Jamaican Beef Patty

Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup butter, chilled and cubed
- 1/2 cup cold water
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp curry powder
- 1/2 tsp thyme
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the flour and chilled butter. Use your fingers to rub the butter into the flour until it resembles breadcrumbs.
- Add cold water gradually and mix until the dough comes together. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- In a skillet, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic until the beef is browned. Add the curry powder, thyme, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut into circles. Place a spoonful of the beef mixture onto one half of each circle, then fold the other half over to enclose the filling. Use a fork to crimp the edges.
- Place the patties on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
