Ingredients
- 4 cups bread flour
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 egg
- 1 egg yolk
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the bread flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
- In a separate bowl, mix the milk, water, butter, egg, and egg yolk.
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for 10-15 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 3 equal parts. Roll each part into a ball and place them in a greased loaf pan.
- Cover the pan with a damp cloth and let the dough rise for another 30-45 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Brush the top of the dough with heavy cream and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool before slicing.
