Jeow Som
Jeow som is a traditional Laotian dipping sauce that is bursting with flavor and is perfect for serving with grilled meats, vegetables, or sticky rice.
Ingredients
- 2-3 Thai bird's eye chilies, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1 tablespoon fish sauce
- 2 tablespoons lime juice
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions
- In a mortar and pestle, pound the chilies and garlic into a coarse paste.
- Transfer the paste to a small saucepan and add fish sauce, lime juice, sugar, and water.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat and cook for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the flavors meld together.
- Remove from heat and let it cool to room temperature before serving.
