Ingredients
- 2 cups black chickpeas, soaked overnight
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 3 tomatoes, pureed
- 2 green chilies, slit
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 tablespoon coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 2 tablespoons oil
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and slit green chilies. Sauté for a minute.
- Now, add the tomato puree and cook until the oil separates from the masala.
- Stir in the turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala, and red chili powder. Cook for a few minutes.
- Add the soaked black chickpeas and mix well. Pour in enough water to cover the chickpeas and season with salt.
- Cover the pan and simmer for 30-35 minutes or until the chickpeas are tender and the curry has thickened.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or roti.
