Ingredients

  • 500g lamb, cut into pieces
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 3 tomatoes, pureed
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1-inch ginger, grated
  • 2 green chilies, slit
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  2. Add minced garlic, grated ginger, and green chilies. Sauté for a few minutes.
  3. Now, add the lamb pieces and cook until they are browned on all sides.
  4. Stir in the turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
  5. Pour in the tomato puree and cook until the oil separates from the masala.
  6. Add water as needed and simmer until the lamb is tender.
  7. Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
  8. Serve hot with steamed rice or naan.
