Jjamppong (짬뽕) Fried Rice is a delicious and spicy Korean Chinese dish that combines the flavors of jjamppong and fried rice into one satisfying meal. This fusion dish is perfect for anyone who loves the bold and spicy flavors of Korean Chinese cuisine.
Ingredients
- 2 cups cooked white rice
- 200g mixed seafood (shrimp, squid, mussels)
- 1/2 cup chopped cabbage
- 1/4 cup chopped carrots
- 1/4 cup chopped onion
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 4 cups chicken or seafood broth
- 3 tbsp Korean red chili paste (gochujang)
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp sesame oil
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 2 green onions, chopped
Instructions
- In a large pan or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the garlic and stir-fry for 30 seconds.
- Add the mixed seafood, cabbage, carrots, and onion. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until the seafood is cooked through.
- Stir in the cooked rice and continue to stir-fry for another 2 minutes.
- In a separate pot, bring the chicken or seafood broth to a boil. Add the Korean red chili paste, soy sauce, sugar, sesame oil, and black pepper. Stir until the chili paste is dissolved.
- Pour the hot broth over the fried rice and seafood mixture. Stir well to combine and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
- Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
