Jordanian-Style Shakshuka (شكشوكة بالطريقة الأردنية)
Shakshuka is a popular Middle Eastern and North African dish that is perfect for breakfast, brunch, or even dinner. This Jordanian-style shakshuka recipe adds a unique twist to the classic dish, making it a flavorful and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- 6 eggs
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 red bell pepper, chopped
- 1 yellow bell pepper, chopped
- 4 tomatoes, diced
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
- Add the chopped bell peppers and cook until they start to soften.
- Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, cumin, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- Using a spoon, create small wells in the tomato mixture and crack an egg into each well.
- Cover the skillet and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the egg whites are set but the yolks are still runny.
- Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.
