Kacho (marshallese Style Beef And Snow Pea Stir-fry)
Kacho is a traditional Marshallese dish that features tender beef and crisp snow peas stir-fried in a savory sauce. This flavorful and colorful dish is a staple in Marshallese cuisine, and it's perfect for a quick and delicious weeknight meal.
Ingredients
- 1 lb beef, thinly sliced
- 2 cups snow peas, trimmed
- 1 onion, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, and beef broth. Set aside.
- Heat vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat. Add the sliced beef and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove the beef from the wok and set aside.
- In the same wok, add a little more oil if needed and sauté the garlic and onion until fragrant.
- Add the snow peas to the wok and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until they are bright green and crisp-tender.
- Return the beef to the wok and pour the sauce over the beef and snow peas. Stir-fry for another 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and snow peas.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Transfer the Kacho to a serving dish and serve hot with steamed rice.
