Kacho (marshallese Style Beef And Snow Pea Stir-fry)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups snow peas, trimmed
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, and beef broth. Set aside.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat. Add the sliced beef and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove the beef from the wok and set aside.
  3. In the same wok, add a little more oil if needed and sauté the garlic and onion until fragrant.
  4. Add the snow peas to the wok and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until they are bright green and crisp-tender.
  5. Return the beef to the wok and pour the sauce over the beef and snow peas. Stir-fry for another 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and snow peas.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Transfer the Kacho to a serving dish and serve hot with steamed rice.
