Ingredients

  • 1 package (16 oz) kadaifi dough (shredded phyllo dough)
  • 1 1/2 cups unsalted pistachios, chopped
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup rosewater
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, gently separate the kadaifi dough strands.
  3. Combine the chopped pistachios with the kadaifi dough.
  4. Place half of the kadaifi and pistachio mixture in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
  5. Drizzle half of the melted butter over the kadaifi and pistachio mixture.
  6. Repeat with the remaining kadaifi, pistachio mixture, and melted butter.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. While the kadaifi is baking, prepare the syrup by combining the sugar and water in a saucepan over medium heat.
  9. Stir until the sugar is dissolved, then add the rosewater and lemon juice.
  10. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, then remove from heat and let it cool.
  11. Once the kadaifi is done, pour the cooled syrup evenly over the hot cake.
  12. Allow the kadaifi to cool completely before serving.
