Kahk is a traditional Algerian almond and honey cake that is often enjoyed during special occasions and celebrations. This sweet and nutty cake is a delightful treat that pairs perfectly with a cup of tea or coffee.
Ingredients
- 2 cups almond flour
- 1 cup honey
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup sliced almonds for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a large bowl, mix the almond flour, honey, melted butter, almond extract, and salt until well combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
- Sprinkle the sliced almonds over the top of the cake.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the cake is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Slice and serve the kahk cake at room temperature.
