Kalamaria Yemista (greek-style Stuffed Calamari)
Kalamaria Yemista is a traditional Greek dish featuring tender calamari stuffed with a flavorful mixture of rice, herbs, and spices. This dish is a delightful combination of seafood and Mediterranean flavors.
Ingredients
- 4 large calamari
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 tomato, diced
- 1/2 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup chopped parsley
- 1/4 cup chopped mint
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 lemon, juiced
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Clean the calamari and remove the tentacles. Chop the tentacles and set aside.
- In a bowl, mix the cooked rice, chopped tomato, onion, garlic, parsley, mint, olive oil, and lemon juice. Season with salt and pepper.
- Stuff the calamari with the rice mixture and secure the openings with toothpicks.
- Heat some olive oil in a pan and sauté the chopped calamari tentacles. Place the stuffed calamari in the pan and cook for about 5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Once cooked, remove the toothpicks and slice the stuffed calamari. Serve hot and enjoy!
