Ingredients

  • 1 whole duck, about 4 lbs
  • 1 lb taro, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice wine
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp five-spice powder
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  2. Prick the duck skin with a fork and rub with salt and pepper.
  3. Place the duck on a roasting rack and roast for 1.5 hours, until golden and crispy.
  4. In a large pot, combine the soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice wine, sugar, and five-spice powder.
  5. Add the roasted duck, taro, and chicken broth to the pot.
  6. Simmer over low heat for 30 minutes, until the duck is tender and the taro is cooked through.
  7. Transfer the duck and taro to a serving platter and spoon the sauce over the top.
