Kapampangan Beef Steak (bistek Kapampangan)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup calamansi juice
  • 1 large onion, sliced into rings
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 3 tablespoons cooking oil

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, calamansi juice, garlic, and ground black pepper. Mix well.
  2. Add the beef slices to the marinade and let it sit for at least 30 minutes.
  3. In a pan over medium heat, heat the cooking oil. Sauté the onion rings until they are soft and caramelized. Remove the onions from the pan and set aside.
  4. In the same pan, sear the marinated beef slices for about 3 minutes on each side or until browned. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.
  5. Pour the remaining marinade into the pan and let it simmer for a few minutes until it thickens into a sauce.
  6. Return the beef slices and caramelized onions to the pan. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
  7. Transfer the Kapampangan Beef Steak to a serving platter and serve hot with steamed rice.
