Kartoffel Traum (kartoffel Dream)

Ingredients

  • 1.5 kg potatoes, peeled and sliced
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 200g bacon, diced
  • 200ml heavy cream
  • 100g grated cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Boil the potato slices in salted water until just tender, then drain and set aside.
  3. In a pan, cook the bacon until crispy, then add the chopped onion and cook until softened.
  4. Layer half of the cooked potatoes in a greased baking dish, then spread half of the bacon and onion mixture on top.
  5. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes and bacon mixture.
  6. Pour the heavy cream over the layers and sprinkle the grated cheese on top.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
  8. Season with salt and pepper to taste before serving.
