Kashmiri Dum Paneer (कश्मीरी दम पनीर)

Ingredients

  • 250g paneer, cubed
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp fennel seeds
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp saffron strands
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, cumin seeds, fennel seeds, garam masala, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and saffron strands.
  2. Heat ghee in a pan and sauté the chopped onions until golden brown.
  3. Add the yogurt-spice mixture to the pan and cook for a few minutes.
  4. Add the cubed paneer and salt to the pan, and gently mix to coat the paneer with the sauce.
  5. Cover the pan with a lid and let the paneer cook on low heat for 15-20 minutes, allowing the flavors to infuse.
  6. Garnish with chopped cilantro before serving.
