Kashmiri Dum Paneer (कश्मीरी दम पनीर)
कश्मीरी दम पनीर (Kashmiri Dum Paneer) is a traditional dish from Kashmiri cuisine that is known for its rich and aromatic flavors. This vegetarian dish is made with paneer (Indian cottage cheese) and a blend of aromatic spices, creating a delicious and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- 250g paneer, cubed
- 1 cup yogurt
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp fennel seeds
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- 1/4 tsp saffron strands
- 2 tbsp ghee
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, cumin seeds, fennel seeds, garam masala, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and saffron strands.
- Heat ghee in a pan and sauté the chopped onions until golden brown.
- Add the yogurt-spice mixture to the pan and cook for a few minutes.
- Add the cubed paneer and salt to the pan, and gently mix to coat the paneer with the sauce.
- Cover the pan with a lid and let the paneer cook on low heat for 15-20 minutes, allowing the flavors to infuse.
- Garnish with chopped cilantro before serving.
