Kashmiri Fish Curry (कश्मीरी फिश करी)
Kashmiri Fish Curry is a traditional dish from the beautiful region of Kashmir, known for its rich and aromatic flavors. This curry is a perfect blend of spices and tender fish, creating a delightful and comforting meal.
Ingredients
- 500g fish fillets
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 3 tomatoes, pureed
- 1/4 cup yogurt
- 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1/2 tsp fennel powder
- 1/2 tsp dry ginger powder
- 1/4 cup mustard oil
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Marinate the fish fillets with yogurt, turmeric powder, and salt. Let it sit for 15 minutes.
- Heat mustard oil in a pan and fry the marinated fish until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, add cumin seeds and chopped onions. Sauté until the onions turn golden brown.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and cook for 2 minutes.
- Stir in the tomato puree, red chili powder, fennel powder, and dry ginger powder. Cook until the oil separates.
- Pour in 2 cups of water and bring the curry to a gentle simmer.
- Gently slide in the fried fish fillets and cook for 5-7 minutes.
- Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
- Serve hot with steamed rice or naan.
