Kashmiri Mushroom Masala (कश्मीरी मशरूम मसाला)
Kashmiri Mushroom Masala is a flavorful and aromatic dish from the beautiful region of Kashmir. This vegetarian dish is made with earthy mushrooms and a blend of traditional Kashmiri spices, creating a rich and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- 500g mushrooms, sliced
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, pureed
- 1/2 cup yogurt
- 2 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp fennel seeds
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp Kashmiri red chili powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 2 tbsp oil
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds and fennel seeds. Let them splutter.
- Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Stir in ginger-garlic paste and cook for 2 minutes.
- Add turmeric powder, Kashmiri red chili powder, and tomato puree. Cook until the oil separates.
- Whisk the yogurt and add it to the pan. Cook for 5 minutes.
- Add sliced mushrooms, garam masala, and salt. Mix well and cook for 10-12 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or naan.
