Keralan Fish Moilee
Keralan Fish Moilee is a traditional Anglo-Indian dish that originated in the coastal region of Kerala, India. This creamy and mildly spiced fish curry is cooked in coconut milk, making it a perfect blend of flavors from both Indian and Anglo cuisines.
Ingredients
- 1 lb (450g) white fish fillets, cut into chunks
- 1 onion, finely sliced
- 2 green chilies, slit lengthwise
- 1-inch piece of ginger, julienned
- 4 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 cup (240ml) coconut milk
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 sprig of curry leaves
- 2 tbsp coconut oil
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Heat coconut oil in a pan and sauté the onions, green chilies, ginger, and garlic until the onions are soft.
- Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, and black pepper. Sauté for a minute.
- Pour in the coconut milk and bring it to a gentle simmer.
- Add the fish chunks and curry leaves. Cook for 8-10 minutes or until the fish is cooked through.
- Season with salt and serve hot with steamed rice.
