Khao Niao Mamuang, also known as Thai Sweet Sticky Rice with Mango, is a popular and delicious Thai dessert. The combination of sweet sticky rice, ripe mango, and coconut milk creates a delightful treat that is perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth.
Ingredients
- 2 cups glutinous rice
- 1 3/4 cups coconut milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 ripe mangoes, peeled and sliced
- Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a bowl, soak the glutinous rice in water for 4 hours or overnight.
- After soaking, drain the rice and steam it for 20 minutes or until tender.
- In a saucepan, combine the coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until the sugar is dissolved.
- Place the steamed rice in a large bowl and pour 3/4 of the coconut milk mixture over the rice. Stir to combine and let it sit for 30 minutes to allow the rice to absorb the coconut milk.
- To serve, mold a small cup of sticky rice on a plate and place the sliced mango on the side. Drizzle the remaining coconut milk mixture on top and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.
