Ingredients

  • 1 cup Basmati rice
  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (almonds, pistachios, cashews)
  • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • 1 tablespoon raisins

Instructions

  1. Wash the rice and soak it in water for 30 minutes.
  2. In a heavy-bottomed pan, bring the milk to a boil.
  3. Drain the rice and add it to the boiling milk. Cook on low heat, stirring occasionally.
  4. Once the rice is cooked and the mixture thickens, add sugar, cardamom powder, nuts, and raisins. Cook for another 5-7 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and let it cool. The kheer will thicken as it cools.
