Khmer Krom

Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp fish sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 2 tbsp palm sugar
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, marinate the beef with fish sauce and minced garlic. Let it sit for 15 minutes.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the marinated beef and cook until browned.
  3. Add the sliced onion and red bell pepper to the skillet. Cook until the vegetables are tender.
  4. Pour in the coconut milk and stir in the palm sugar, turmeric, coriander, and cumin. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Stir in the fresh basil leaves and season with salt and pepper.
  6. Serve the Khmer Krom over steamed rice.
