Khmer Krom
Khmer Krom is a traditional Cambodian dish that is rich in flavor and history. This recipe combines aromatic spices, tender meat, and fresh herbs to create a delicious and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- 1 lb beef, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp fish sauce
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 2 tbsp palm sugar
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a bowl, marinate the beef with fish sauce and minced garlic. Let it sit for 15 minutes.
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the marinated beef and cook until browned.
- Add the sliced onion and red bell pepper to the skillet. Cook until the vegetables are tender.
- Pour in the coconut milk and stir in the palm sugar, turmeric, coriander, and cumin. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- Stir in the fresh basil leaves and season with salt and pepper.
- Serve the Khmer Krom over steamed rice.
