Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 1/4 teaspoon ground fenugreek
- 1/4 teaspoon ground paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon ground chili powder
- 1/4 teaspoon ground saffron (optional)
- 1 cup warm water
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, salt, and all the ground spices.
- Add the warm water and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes, or until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces and shape each piece into a ball.
- Flatten each ball into a 1/4-inch thick round disc.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and cook each flatbread for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Transfer the cooked flatbreads to a plate and cover with a towel to keep warm until ready to serve.
