Khorika Tenga (assamese Style Pork Soup)
Khorika Tenga is a traditional Assamese pork soup that is bursting with flavors of the Northeastern region of India. This tangy and spicy soup is a popular dish in Assamese cuisine and is perfect for warming up on a chilly day.
Ingredients
- 500g pork, cut into pieces
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 2 potatoes, diced
- 1 onion, sliced
- 2-3 green chilies, slit
- 1-inch ginger, grated
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon mustard oil
- Salt to taste
- Water
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Heat mustard oil in a pot and add the sliced onion. Sauté until golden brown.
- Add the pork pieces and cook until they are slightly browned.
- Stir in the grated ginger, turmeric powder, and salt. Cook for a few minutes.
- Add the chopped tomatoes, diced potatoes, and slit green chilies. Cook for 5-7 minutes.
- Pour in enough water to cover the ingredients and bring to a boil. Then, reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 45 minutes or until the pork is tender.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
