Khorisa Murgi (assamese Style Pork With Bamboo Shoots)
Khorisa Murgi is a traditional dish from the North East Indian state of Assam, known for its unique flavors and use of indigenous ingredients. This recipe combines tender pork with the distinct taste of bamboo shoots, creating a delicious and aromatic dish that is perfect for a hearty meal.
Ingredients
- 500g pork, cut into cubes
- 1 cup bamboo shoots, sliced
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 3-4 green chilies, slit
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- 2 tbsp mustard oil
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Heat mustard oil in a pan and add the chopped onions. Sauté until golden brown.
- Add the ginger-garlic paste and green chilies, and sauté for a few minutes.
- Add the pork cubes and cook until they are browned on all sides.
- Stir in the turmeric, cumin, coriander, and red chili powders, and mix well.
- Add the sliced bamboo shoots and salt, and cook for 5-7 minutes.
- Pour in 2 cups of water, cover the pan, and let the pork and bamboo shoots simmer until tender.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
