Kiflice
Kiflice are delicious crescent-shaped pastries that are popular in Eastern European cuisine. They are perfect for breakfast, brunch, or as a snack with a cup of coffee or tea.
Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 egg yolk
- 1/2 cup jam (apricot or raspberry)
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the sour cream and egg yolk until a dough forms.
- Divide the dough into 4 equal parts and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out each portion of dough into a circle and cut into 6 wedges.
- Spread a thin layer of jam on each wedge and roll up from the wide end to the point.
- Place the kiflice on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let the kiflice cool for a few minutes, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.
