Ingredients

  • 1 large head of cabbage
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup rice
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Boil the whole head of cabbage in a large pot of water for 10 minutes. Remove from water and let it cool. Carefully peel off the leaves.
  2. In a bowl, mix the ground beef, rice, onion, garlic, salt, and pepper.
  3. Place a spoonful of the beef mixture onto each cabbage leaf and roll them up, tucking in the sides.
  4. Place the cabbage rolls in a large pot, seam side down. Pour the crushed tomatoes over the rolls and add enough water to cover them.
  5. Cover the pot and simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours, until the cabbage is tender and the filling is cooked through.
  6. Serve the cabbage rolls with a dollop of sour cream on top.
