Kiseli Kupus Sarma, also known as Cabbage Rolls with Sour Cream, is a traditional Serbian dish that is hearty, flavorful, and perfect for a comforting meal.
Ingredients
- 1 large head of cabbage
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup rice
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup sour cream
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Boil the whole head of cabbage in a large pot of water for 10 minutes. Remove from water and let it cool. Carefully peel off the leaves.
- In a bowl, mix the ground beef, rice, onion, garlic, salt, and pepper.
- Place a spoonful of the beef mixture onto each cabbage leaf and roll them up, tucking in the sides.
- Place the cabbage rolls in a large pot, seam side down. Pour the crushed tomatoes over the rolls and add enough water to cover them.
- Cover the pot and simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours, until the cabbage is tender and the filling is cooked through.
- Serve the cabbage rolls with a dollop of sour cream on top.
