Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup pitted dates, chopped
  • 1 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix the flour, melted butter, sugar, cardamom, and cinnamon until a dough forms.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the dates, walnuts, honey, and water to make the filling.
  4. Divide the dough into small balls and flatten each ball into a circle on a floured surface.
  5. Place a spoonful of the date and walnut filling in the center of each circle of dough.
  6. Pinch the edges of the dough together to seal the filling inside.
  7. Place the pastries on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  8. Allow the kleicha to cool before serving.
