Ingredients

  • 8 slices of thick-cut bread
  • 1 cup of knafeh (shredded phyllo dough)
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 cup of milk
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup of sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • Butter for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Spread a generous amount of knafeh on 4 slices of bread and top with the remaining slices to make 4 sandwiches.
  2. In a shallow dish, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, sugar, and cinnamon.
  3. Heat a knob of butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  4. Dip each sandwich into the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off, then place in the skillet.
