This recipe combines the rich flavors of knafeh with the classic French toast to create a delightful Palestinian fusion dish.
Ingredients
- 8 slices of thick-cut bread
- 1 cup of knafeh (shredded phyllo dough)
- 4 eggs
- 1/2 cup of milk
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup of sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
- Butter for frying
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Spread a generous amount of knafeh on 4 slices of bread and top with the remaining slices to make 4 sandwiches.
- In a shallow dish, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, sugar, and cinnamon.
- Heat a knob of butter in a skillet over medium heat.
- Dip each sandwich into the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off, then place in the skillet.
