Kofta Curry
Kofta curry is a delicious dish made with spiced meatballs simmered in a flavorful curry sauce. This recipe combines the rich flavors of Indian and Middle Eastern cuisines, making it a perfect choice for a special dinner or gathering.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground lamb or beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 cup tomato puree
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 cup chicken or vegetable broth
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together the ground meat, onion, garlic, cumin, coriander, chili powder, cinnamon, cilantro, salt, and pepper. Form the mixture into small meatballs.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the tomato puree, coconut milk, garam masala, turmeric, and paprika. Stir to combine.
- Pour in the chicken or vegetable broth and bring the sauce to a simmer.
- Return the meatballs to the skillet, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through and the sauce has thickened.
- Serve the kofta curry hot with steamed rice or naan bread.
