Kolašin Cabbage Rolls With Sour Cream

Ingredients

  • 1 head of cabbage
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup uncooked rice
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Sour cream for serving

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully remove the outer leaves of the cabbage and blanch them in the boiling water for 2-3 minutes, until they are pliable. Remove and set aside to cool.
  2. In a bowl, mix together the ground beef, uncooked rice, chopped onion, minced garlic, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Place a spoonful of the meat mixture onto each cabbage leaf, then fold the sides in and roll up the leaf to encase the filling.
  4. In a large pot, combine the crushed tomatoes and beef broth. Place the cabbage rolls in the pot, seam side down. Cover and simmer for 1 hour, until the cabbage is tender and the filling is cooked through.
  5. Serve the cabbage rolls with a dollop of sour cream on top.
