Kolambi Rassa (malvani Prawn Curry)
Kolambi Rassa is a traditional Malvani prawn curry that is known for its rich and aromatic flavors. This dish is a staple in Malvani cuisine and is best enjoyed with steamed rice or crusty bread.
Ingredients
- 500g prawns, cleaned and deveined
- 1 cup grated coconut
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 tomato, chopped
- 2-3 green chilies
- 1-inch ginger, grated
- 4-5 garlic cloves
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp coriander seeds
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 2-3 tbsp oil
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- In a blender, grind the grated coconut, onion, tomato, green chilies, ginger, and garlic to a smooth paste.
- Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds and coriander seeds. Sauté until fragrant.
- Add the ground paste and sauté for 5-7 minutes until the raw smell disappears.
- Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
- Add the prawns and cook for 5-7 minutes until they turn pink and are cooked through.
- Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
- Serve hot with steamed rice or crusty bread.
