कोल्हापुरी मिसळ (Kolhapuri Misal) is a spicy and flavorful Maharashtrian dish that is perfect for breakfast or as a snack. It is made with sprouted moth beans, spicy gravy, farsan, and served with pav or bread.

Kolhapuri Misal (कोल्हापुरी मिसळ)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sprouted moth beans
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, pureed
  • 3-4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch ginger, grated
  • 2-3 green chilies, chopped
  • 1/2 cup mixed farsan (spicy savory snack)
  • 1/4 cup chopped coriander leaves
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 4 pav (bread rolls)

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. Once they splutter, add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  2. Add minced garlic, grated ginger, and green chilies. Sauté for a minute.
  3. Now add tomato puree, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt. Cook until the oil separates from the masala.
  4. Add sprouted moth beans and mix well. Add water if required and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  5. Once the misal is ready, serve it in a bowl, garnish with farsan and chopped coriander leaves.
  6. Serve hot with pav.
