Koli Barthad (coorgi Chicken Fry)
Koli Barthad is a traditional Coorgi chicken fry that is bursting with flavors and spices. This dish is a staple in Kodava Cuisine and is perfect for a hearty meal with family and friends.
Ingredients
- 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 3 tomatoes, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 2 green chilies, slit
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 2 tablespoons Coorgi masala powder
- Salt to taste
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Marinate the chicken pieces with turmeric powder, Coorgi masala powder, and salt. Let it sit for 15 minutes.
- Heat oil in a pan and fry the marinated chicken pieces until they are golden brown. Set aside.
- In the same pan, add more oil if needed and sauté the onions, green chilies, and ginger-garlic paste until the onions are translucent.
- Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn mushy.
- Now, add the fried chicken pieces to the pan and mix well with the onion-tomato mixture. Cook for another 10 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
