Koli Barthad (kodava Style Chicken Fry)
Koli Barthad is a traditional Kodava (Coorg) style chicken fry that is bursting with flavors. This dish is a popular delicacy in the Kodava cuisine and is perfect for a hearty meal with family and friends.
Ingredients
- 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 3 tomatoes, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 2 tablespoons Kodava masala powder
- 2 sprigs of curry leaves
- Salt to taste
- 3 tablespoons oil
Instructions
- Marinate the chicken pieces with turmeric powder, salt, and Kodava masala powder. Let it sit for 15 minutes.
- Heat oil in a pan and add the chopped onions. Sauté until they turn golden brown.
- Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a few minutes.
- Now, add the marinated chicken pieces and cook until they are half done.
- Add the chopped tomatoes and curry leaves. Cook until the chicken is tender and the masala is well coated.
- Once the chicken is cooked, remove from heat and serve hot.
