कोल्मी नो पाठियो (Kolmi no Patio) is a traditional Parsi dish that features succulent prawns in a tangy and spicy tomato-based gravy. This dish is bursting with flavors and is best enjoyed with steamed rice or crusty bread.
Ingredients
- 500g prawns, cleaned and deveined
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 3 tomatoes, pureed
- 1/2 cup tamarind pulp
- 1/4 cup jaggery or sugar
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add the prawns and cook for 2-3 minutes until they turn pink.
- Stir in the tomato puree, tamarind pulp, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Cook for 5-7 minutes.
- Add jaggery or sugar to balance the tanginess of the tamarind.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or bread.
