Kolo Mee (kolo Mee)
Kolo Mee is a popular Sarawakian noodle dish that is simple yet flavorful. It consists of springy egg noodles tossed in a delicious mixture of shallot oil, soy sauce, and other seasonings, then topped with minced meat, char siu (barbecued pork), and green onions.
Ingredients
- 300g egg noodles
- 150g minced pork
- 100g char siu (barbecued pork), thinly sliced
- 3 stalks green onions, finely chopped
- 4 tablespoons shallot oil
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- Salt, to taste
- White pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Boil the egg noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a pan, heat 1 tablespoon of shallot oil and cook the minced pork until browned. Season with salt and white pepper. Set aside.
- In a small bowl, mix the remaining shallot oil, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, and a pinch of white pepper to make the sauce.
- Toss the cooked noodles in the sauce until well coated.
- Divide the noodles into serving bowls and top with the cooked minced pork, sliced char siu, and chopped green onions.
