Kombdi Rassa (कोंबडी रस्सा)

Ingredients

  • 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup grated coconut
  • 2 tomatoes, pureed
  • 4-5 garlic cloves
  • 1-inch ginger, grated
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander seeds
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2-3 tbsp red chili powder
  • 2-3 tbsp oil
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds and coriander seeds. Sauté until they crackle.
  2. Add chopped onions, garlic, and ginger. Cook until the onions turn golden brown.
  3. Add the chicken pieces and cook until they are slightly browned.
  4. Next, add the tomato puree, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for 5-7 minutes.
  5. Add grated coconut and water. Cover and cook until the chicken is tender.
  6. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with bhakri or steamed rice.
