Korean-inspired General Tso's Shrimp (조선식 제너럴 토스 새우)
This Korean-inspired General Tso's Shrimp recipe combines the flavors of Korean and Chinese cuisine to create a delicious and spicy dish that's perfect for a special dinner at home.
Ingredients
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup rice vinegar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon Korean red pepper flakes
- 2 green onions, chopped
Instructions
- In a large bowl, toss the shrimp with cornstarch until evenly coated.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp and cook until golden and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the garlic and ginger. Cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Stir in the soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, and Korean red pepper flakes. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
- Garnish with chopped green onions and serve hot.
