Ingredients
- 1 pound flank steak, sliced into thin strips
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 2 green onions, sliced
Instructions
- In a large bowl, toss the sliced flank steak with cornstarch until well coated.
- Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the coated steak strips and cook until browned, then transfer to a plate.
- In the same skillet, heat the remaining tablespoon of oil and sauté the garlic and ginger until fragrant.
- Stir in the soy sauce, water, brown sugar, and red pepper flakes. Bring to a simmer and cook until the sauce thickens.
- Return the cooked steak to the skillet and toss to coat with the sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
