Korean-style General Tso's Chicken (조선식 제너럴 토스 치킨)
This Korean-style General Tso's Chicken recipe combines the bold flavors of Korean and Chinese cuisine to create a delicious and satisfying dish.
Ingredients
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
- 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 1/4 cup rice vinegar
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 tablespoons Korean red pepper paste (gochujang)
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 green onions, thinly sliced
- Sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
- In a large bowl, toss the chicken pieces with the cornstarch until evenly coated.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the coated chicken pieces and cook until golden and crispy, about 5-6 minutes.
- Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside. In the same skillet, add the garlic and ginger, and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Stir in the soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, and gochujang. Cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens.
- Return the cooked chicken to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat through.
- Drizzle with sesame oil and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
