Korean-style Orange Chicken (오렌지 치킨)
오렌지 치킨 (Korean-style Orange Chicken) is a popular Korean Chinese dish that features crispy chicken pieces coated in a tangy and sweet orange sauce. This dish is a perfect combination of savory and citrusy flavors, making it a favorite among many.
Ingredients
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon grated ginger
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon orange zest
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Sesame seeds and green onions for garnish
Instructions
- In a shallow dish, season the chicken pieces with salt and pepper.
- Coat the chicken pieces in cornstarch, then dip them in the beaten eggs.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the chicken until golden and crispy, about 4-5 minutes per side. Transfer the cooked chicken to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- In a separate pan, combine orange juice, soy sauce, honey, garlic, ginger, rice vinegar, orange zest, and red pepper flakes. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 5-7 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Add the fried chicken to the sauce and toss to coat evenly.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions before serving.
