Ingredients

  • 1 lb lamb, cut into cubes
  • 2 large potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened.
  2. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the pot, and cook for another 2 minutes.
  3. Add the lamb cubes to the pot and brown them on all sides.
  4. Stir in the ground cumin, ground coriander, turmeric, and cayenne pepper, and cook for 1 minute.
  5. Add the diced potatoes to the pot and stir to combine with the lamb and spices.
  6. Pour in the plain yogurt and heavy cream, and season with salt. Stir well to combine all the ingredients.
  7. Cover the pot and let the korma simmer for 45-50 minutes, or until the lamb is tender and the potatoes are cooked through.
  8. Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
