Ingredients
- 2 cups cherries, pitted
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
- 6 sheets phyllo dough
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1/4 cup bread crumbs
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl, mix the cherries, sugar, cornstarch, vanilla extract, and almond extract.
- Place one sheet of phyllo dough on a clean surface and brush it with melted butter. Sprinkle with bread crumbs.
- Repeat the process with the remaining phyllo sheets, stacking them on top of each other.
- Spread the cherry filling along one edge of the phyllo stack and roll it up into a log.
- Place the strudel on a baking sheet and brush with melted butter.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Let it cool for a few minutes, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.
