Ingredients
- 2 cups bulgur wheat
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Water
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- Place the bulgur wheat in a large bowl and cover with water. Let it soak for 10 minutes, then drain and squeeze out any excess water.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the ground beef, onion, olive oil, cumin, paprika, cinnamon, salt, and pepper.
- Add the bulgur wheat to the meat mixture and combine well. If the mixture is too dry, add a little water to moisten it.
- Take a small portion of the mixture and shape it into a small oval or cylindrical shape, then deep fry in hot oil until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the koupes from the oil and place on a paper towel to drain any excess oil.
- Serve the koupes hot with a side of tzatziki or hummus for dipping.
