Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup sauerkraut, drained and chopped
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, sauerkraut, onion, caraway seeds, salt, and pepper.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually stir in the milk and vegetable oil until a soft dough forms.
  3. Divide the dough into 6 equal portions and roll each portion into a 6-inch circle.
  4. Place a portion of the beef mixture on one half of each dough circle, then fold the other half over the filling. Press the edges with a fork to seal.
  5. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the kraut burgers for 5-7 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Serve hot and enjoy!
