Kraut Burgers
Kraut burgers are a delicious and hearty dish that combines the flavors of sauerkraut, ground beef, and seasonings, all wrapped in a warm, soft dough. These savory hand-held meals are perfect for a quick lunch or dinner.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 cup sauerkraut, drained and chopped
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, sauerkraut, onion, caraway seeds, salt, and pepper.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually stir in the milk and vegetable oil until a soft dough forms.
- Divide the dough into 6 equal portions and roll each portion into a 6-inch circle.
- Place a portion of the beef mixture on one half of each dough circle, then fold the other half over the filling. Press the edges with a fork to seal.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the kraut burgers for 5-7 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
