Krautburger Sliders (Krautburger-Schieber)

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 cup sauerkraut, drained
  • 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 12 slider buns
  • 6 slices Swiss cheese, cut in half
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and onion over medium heat until the beef is no longer pink. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Add the sauerkraut, caraway seeds, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Cook and stir for 5 minutes.
  3. Preheat the broiler. Split the slider buns and place them on a baking sheet.
  4. Top the bottom halves of the buns with the beef mixture, then place a half slice of Swiss cheese on top.
  5. Broil for 2-3 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the buns are lightly toasted.
  6. Spread butter on the top halves of the buns and place them on top of the sliders.
  7. Serve the Krautburger-Schieber hot and enjoy!
