Krautburger Sliders (Krautburger-Schieber)
Krautburger-Schieber, also known as Krautburger Sliders, are a delicious German dish that combines the flavors of sauerkraut, ground beef, and cheese in a convenient slider form. These mini sandwiches are perfect for parties, gatherings, or simply as a fun and tasty meal.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 cup sauerkraut, drained
- 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 12 slider buns
- 6 slices Swiss cheese, cut in half
- 2 tablespoons butter
Instructions
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and onion over medium heat until the beef is no longer pink. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the sauerkraut, caraway seeds, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Cook and stir for 5 minutes.
- Preheat the broiler. Split the slider buns and place them on a baking sheet.
- Top the bottom halves of the buns with the beef mixture, then place a half slice of Swiss cheese on top.
- Broil for 2-3 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the buns are lightly toasted.
- Spread butter on the top halves of the buns and place them on top of the sliders.
- Serve the Krautburger-Schieber hot and enjoy!
