Kubbat is a traditional Assyrian dish made of crispy rice cakes filled with spiced ground meat. This savory snack is perfect for sharing with family and friends.
Ingredients
- 2 cups of rice
- 1 pound of ground beef or lamb
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- 1 teaspoon of ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon of ground coriander
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Rinse the rice and cook it according to the package instructions. Let it cool.
- In a pan, heat the olive oil and sauté the chopped onion until translucent.
- Add the ground meat, cumin, coriander, salt, and pepper. Cook until the meat is browned.
- Take a small portion of the cooked rice and flatten it in your palm. Place a spoonful of the meat mixture in the center and form it into a ball.
- Repeat the process to make all the rice cakes.
- Heat some oil in a pan and fry the rice cakes until they are crispy and golden brown on both sides.
- Remove from the pan and place on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
- Serve the kubbat hot and enjoy!
