Ingredients

  • 2 cups of rice
  • 1 pound of ground beef or lamb
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon of ground coriander
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Rinse the rice and cook it according to the package instructions. Let it cool.
  2. In a pan, heat the olive oil and sauté the chopped onion until translucent.
  3. Add the ground meat, cumin, coriander, salt, and pepper. Cook until the meat is browned.
  4. Take a small portion of the cooked rice and flatten it in your palm. Place a spoonful of the meat mixture in the center and form it into a ball.
  5. Repeat the process to make all the rice cakes.
  6. Heat some oil in a pan and fry the rice cakes until they are crispy and golden brown on both sides.
  7. Remove from the pan and place on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
  8. Serve the kubbat hot and enjoy!
