Ingredients

  • 2 banana blossoms, cleaned and chopped
  • 1 cup grated coconut
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 green chilies, chopped
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/4 tsp asafoetida (hing)
  • 1 sprig curry leaves
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the stuffing by mixing grated coconut, chopped onion, green chilies, ginger-garlic paste, coriander powder, and salt in a bowl.
  2. Take the cleaned and chopped banana blossoms and stuff them with the prepared mixture.
  3. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and asafoetida. Once the seeds splutter, add curry leaves and the stuffed banana blossoms.
  4. Add turmeric powder and salt to taste. Cook the stuffed banana blossoms on low heat for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Once the banana blossoms are cooked, the Kudla Kudlu is ready to be served hot with steamed rice or roti.
