Ingredients

  • 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch ginger, grated
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 green chilies, sliced
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the onions, garlic, and ginger. Sauté until the onions are soft and translucent.
  2. Add the chicken pieces to the pot and cook until they are browned on all sides.
  3. Stir in the turmeric, coriander, cumin, and chili powders, and cook for a few minutes to toast the spices.
  4. Pour in the coconut milk and yogurt, and add the chopped tomatoes and green chilies. Season with salt.
  5. Cover the pot and let the korma simmer for 30-35 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce has thickened.
  6. Sprinkle garam masala over the korma and garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
