Kulau (palauan Fish Ceviche)
Kulau, also known as Palauan Fish Ceviche, is a traditional dish from the island nation of Palau. This refreshing and tangy dish is perfect for warm weather and is a great way to enjoy fresh seafood.
Ingredients
- 1 lb fresh white fish, such as snapper or grouper, diced
- 1 cup lime juice
- 1/2 cup coconut milk
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 1 tomato, diced
- 1 cucumber, peeled and diced
- 1 bell pepper, diced
- 1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and finely chopped
- 1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a glass or ceramic bowl, combine the diced fish and lime juice. Make sure the fish is completely submerged in the lime juice. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
- After the fish has marinated, drain off the lime juice and add the coconut milk, onion, tomato, cucumber, bell pepper, jalapeno, and cilantro. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Stir gently to combine all the ingredients. Cover and refrigerate for an additional 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- Serve the kulau chilled, either on its own or with some freshly toasted bread or crackers.
